<idAbs><DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This is currently the county's Master Waterbody layer which consists of Lakes, Glaciers, and Double Line Streams originally taken from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) layer and updated with other value added mapping projects. It now reflects the re-mapping of the East end of the County (from the Lyre River East to the County Line). This remapping began in 2006 and was finished Sept. 12, 2012 During this remapping, the waterbodies were relocated to match the LIDAR, Contours or Orthophotography of 2005-2006. A public version of this map is created by removing Glaciers and unknown waterbody types. <maintNote>2006- Susan Lundstedt began a project to verify and correct directionality of arcs and move them to match natural features using various methods. This project modified the streams from the Lyre Drainage east to the East County Line. A stream flow model was created to identify streams and then they were moved to match LIDAR, Contours or Orthophotography of 2005-2006. Attributes were maintained in the DNR format for incorporation into their Master Dataset. DNR did not have the resources to finish bringing this data into their system. Mapped at 1:24k </maintNote>
<maintNote>Sept. 2012 - Starla Jodoin completed a project to incorporate the previous Hydro work from 2006, edit features to meet the needs of Clallam County including symbolization for web map use. Tributaries and side channels that crossed the shoreline of a double line stream were broken at the shoreline junction, estuaries were enclosed to separate them from saltwater, centerline information was transferred to the shorelines of double line streams and lakes, continuity in stream types were visually verified. All untyped streams were typed by inferring the additional attribute information (See the INFERRED field.) A new Master Stream Layer, Master Waterbodies Layer and their public derivatives were created and published to the web. Mapped at 1:24k

<edomvd>Wet area. To avoid any legal or jurisdictional implication of the use of the term "wetland", the term "wet area" is used in Hydro to describe lands including swamps, marshes, bogs, and similar areas such as wet meadows, river overflows, mudflats, and natural ponds. Used herein, a "wet area" is an area characterized by periodic inundation or saturation, hydric soils, and vegetation adapted for life in saturated soil conditions. Any number of tidal and nontidal areas characterized by saturated or nearly saturated soils most of the year that form an interface between terrestrial and aquatic environments; including freshwater marshes around ponds and channels, and brackish and salt marshes. <attrdef>DNR Forest Practices Fish Habitat Water Type Code. Implemented for Western Washington March 1, 2005 and for Eastern Washington March 1, 2006. Used in conjunction with WAC 222-16-030 and 222-16-031 and the Washington Forest Practices Board Manual. For stream features, this Code is based on a multi-parameter, field verified geographic information system (GIS) logistic regression model. The water typing model is based on thousands of field surveys of fish presence and fish habitat. Other model parameters are gradient, elevation, basin size and average annual precipitation derived from the US Geological Survey's digital elevation model (DEM) for the state of Washington. Technical considerations required that the model be developed on a "virtual" stream network system derived from the DEM database. The DEM-based model results were then transferred to the DNR's hydrographic GIS "map" (WCHYDRO) in order to implement the new habitat based water types.</attrdef>
